Amar’e Stoudemire files for divorce from his spouse following the birth of his sidekick
When the NBA money is no longer coming in, the worst thing you could do is have a child by a woman you weren’t intended to have one with and pay child support. The next terrible thing you could do is go through a divorce when you know child support and spousal support is on the horizon.
Amar’e Stoudemire will now feel that ramifications of his decisions after the former NBA star fathered a child with a side chick who sued him for paternity and sought child support for a baby girl named Zoe Renee, who had been born in 2016. Stoudemire later revealed he had been paying the woman temporary child support without a court order.
Stoudemire is now in the midst of possibly going through a nasty divorce after filing recently, according to The Blast.
Ex-NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly six years, a little more than a year after the revelation he fathered a love child came to light.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the former NBA star filed a petition for dissolution of marriage with minor children against Alexis Welch.
The NBA star had been dating Alexis since the early 2000s and the two finally made it official with a wedding in 2012. They share four kids together: Ar’e. Amar’e Jr., Assata and their youngest son, Alijah, was born in 2013.
Alexis has yet to file a response to Stoudemire’s divorce petition, nor does she have a lawyer listed as representing her as of yet. The case is still open and the divorce has yet to be finalized.
The split comes after it was revealed Stoudemire fathered a love child with a Florida woman named Quynn Lovett.
Stoudemire made $161 million during his 15-year NBA career.
